Well here it is September already!!! Fall is well and truly here and winter is on the way. The weather this past month hasn't been all that great for getting out and about in. But we did have a really lovely day when went to London to meet up with some Galaxy Zoo friends.
We took the train to Stratford and then got onto the Jubilee line to Canary Wharf. This station is so cool!!!!! When you get off the tube it has double doors and you enter into a concrete and polished steel station. It is like being transported to some Science Fiction movie. Just waiting for the cybermen to come down the escalators or hear the Daleks saying "Exterminate!"
Very futuristic!!!
I wasn't sure I should take photos, but I just couldn't resist.
You ascend the escalators into the light. There is a huge glass dome that covers them.
Once outside you are greeted by these towering skyscrapers.
We then got to the DLR station. And again I couldn't resit the photo opportunity.
From there we got off at the Cutty Sark. It is being rebuilt after some idiot set fire to it.
The dome building is the underground foot tunnel from the other side of the river. The buildings you see in the back are those giant skyscrapers that I had photographed earlier.
Brian and I were quite surprised to see a small Ferris wheel here. It is much smaller than the London Eye, but I bet you get some fantastic views from it.
We had a lovely little amble around the old naval college.
I couldn't resist taking a photo of the pigeon's tea party.
We finally made it to the pub for the meet up with my new found friends. We had a really lovely lunch and then Geoff took us on a tour of Greenwich Park. We had some nice ice cream while trying to cool off from the bright sunshine.
Geoff, Alice, myself and Fluffy
Alice took this photo of Fluffy, myself, Brian and Geoff.
The park sits up on a hill and what a spectacular view of London. I can't wait to go back there again and get some more lovely photos. The observatory is in the park too.
And finally here is the Prime Meridian line.
We had a super day and really nice company. Hopefully they will invite us back for the next meeting.

Thanks Fluffy, it was great meeting all of you too! I had a lovely day. :)
Pat, what wonderful pictures. One of the escalators looks a little like some at our airports. I always enjoy seeing the many places you visit that are so close to you---amazing. Hugs, Pat
Thanks Pat! :)
Great photos Pat, looks like a wonderful day out.
Definitely a wonderful day out and good weather for it too by the looks of things. At the start of the summer holidays I took the boys to the Tutankhamun exhibition at the O2 and we went to the Maritime Museum afterwards, then the Observatory. So beautiful! Only problem was the meridian line queue was too long to wait for our youngest.
Hi Amanda, Cool I saw that exhibit in Chicago many years ago. It was cool. This is outside so there wasn't a queue for it. Near the observatory.
Hi Pat, nearly 3 months late, but having just discovered this blog . . . great to see this! My favourite bit was your comment on the Cutty Sark. Did I really wear that dress, and will it ever be warm enough to wear a dress like that again? It was great meeting you and Brian - thanks for coming and see you again very soon I hope.
